Image-Guided Therapy
New, advanced, non-invasive treatment for Uterine Fibroids

Uterine Fibroids are benign (non-cancerous) masses located in the uterus or in the uterine wall. At least 1 in 4 women in the U.S. suffer from this condition, but 3 of 4 may suffer from it unknowingly. Fibroids can cause heavy bleeding, painful periods, bleeding between periods, frequent urination, bowel symptoms, pain during sex, and lower back pain, and at times require hysterectomy (the removal of the uterus.)

Magnetic Resonance Guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) is the first non-invasive treatment for uterine fibroids. Approved by the FDA in October 2004, it uses highly focused ultrasound to exactly locate each benign tumor and nullify its cells with pinpoint precision. It is a non-surgical alternative to hysterectomy, myomectomy (surgical excision of the tumors), and uterine artery embolization (blocking the blood vessels that supply the tumor by injection.)

MRgFUS treatment is available at University Image Guided therapy Center in Boca Raton, FL and is affiliated with University MRI.

NOTE: MRgFUS is a self-pay treatment that is not currently covered by MEDICARE or insurance providers.
